Water work closes route

A MAJOR route in Caerphilly county will be closed to through traffic for a week as Welsh Water carries out work to supplies.

As part of a £960,000 scheme, it has been agreed with Caerphilly County Borough Council that the A472 Hafodyrynys Road will be closed between the A467 Newbridge Bypass and the B4471 Swffrydd Road from 8am on Friday, March 21, until 8pm on Monday, March 24.

A diversion route will be in place using the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road and this will be clearly signposted in advance to allow drivers to make alternative travel arrangements.

Access will be open for residents, visitors and emergency service vehicles and a temporary shuttle bus will be provided to replace services affected by the road closure.

Welsh Water’s Peter Childs said: “We are writing to all affected residents to provide advance warning of the road closure. This is essential work to further improve the water supply network in the area. We assure local people that we will work as quickly as we can to get the road open.”
