Reinforcements for Big Cheese grounds

THE damage after Caerphilly’s annual Big Cheese event on nearby playing fields was so great last year that work was needed on the site.

As part of the Big Cheese, which attracts thousands over the special weekend, a huge funfair is staged on the Owain Glyndwr playing fields – but when the weather is wet the ground has been damaged.

Caerphilly council is planning to site “grasscrete” reinforcement at the three entrances to the playing fields in Crescent Road ahead of this year’s Big Cheese at a cost of £66,000.
