PHARMACIES have joined forces with Gwent Police to help catch drug dealers.
As from the beginning of this week all 124 pharmacies in the Gwent force area joined a new initiative to target those dealing in prescription and illicit drugs.
About 20,000 leaflets have been handed out to pharmacies, which in turn will issue them with prescriptions asking for people to pass on information about those involved in illegal activity.
Pharmacy officer Roger Booth, who is leading the initiative, said: “I believe this is the first time a crime prevention initiative of this kind has been run in partnership with pharmacies in the UK.”
People can also still report illegal drug use through the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
