POLICE are investigating a spate of fires in Abertridwr, Caerphilly.
Firefighters first dealt with a mountainside blaze near homes at St Anne’s Gardens at 7.30pm last night, then a few hours later they returned to the village to put out a fire which gutted a garden shed at the back of houses in Thomas Street.
Watch manager Gareth Vaughan said: “That was a hazardous incident as there were LPG cylinders in the shed so we had to cool them down.”
Later again at 11.30pm, the crew returned to Thomas Street where a pile of rubbish had been ignited, the heat from which damaged a windowsill. At the same time, a crew from Caerphilly travelled to nearby Llanbradach where a wheelie bin had been set alight.
