A COUPLE who divorced after 23 years of marriage have rekindled their friendship even though the ex-husband was brought to court after biting his ex-wife’s hand.
Council worker and former miner and builder Dean Burton, 45, was visibly upset as Crown Advocate Penny Palmer outlined to Caerphilly magistrates what sparked his appearance in court.
She said: “The couple were living near each other in Aberbargoed and had gone for a night out separately with friends but shared a taxi back.
“He went to her address and was let in and as she answered a mobile call, he bit her hand.”
Ms Palmer said Gail Burton said she did not want her ex-husband to lose his job over what happened.
Llyr Williams, defending, said it was Burton himself who called the police because he was upset by his own behaviour and made a full admission to officers.
Burton, of Ty Fry Road, pleaded guilty to common assault and was given a community order for two years and must attend a number of seminars.
