AFTER her boyfriend tried to strangle her, Leyla Jones told police she did not want to press charges because she wanted to start a family with him.
Since the attack in May last year, Caerphilly court heard Ms Jones and Gary Price, 26, have had a baby and are back together.
Ms Penny Palmer, prosecuting, said when initially arrested, Price, of Pen Y Bryn, Rhymney, pleaded not guilty to common assault but later changed his plea to guilty.
She said the violence happened at Price’s father’s home in Rhymney. Ms Palmer said: “He grabbed her around the neck and started to strangle her. She had a cut to her left ear and marks on her neck.”
The magistrates said they considered the matter so serious given Price had only just started a supervision order that custody would be an option. Price is due back before the court on February 1.
