Torchwood star wins battle of the book signings

TWO celebrities went head to head in a battle of the book signings.

Torchwood star John Barrowman went up against glamour model Katie Price, also known as Jordan, as they signed their new books in Cardiff shops only a hundred yards apart.

Cardiff-based Barrowman proclaimed himself the winner of the battle after more than 1,000 fans lined up through the Morgan Arcade and around Baker’s Row towards Howells to get him to sign copies of his autobiography Anything Goes at Borders bookshop.

When he took his seat at the Hayes book store, he clapped his hands and said: “Yes. I’ve beaten Katie Price.”

One Barrowman fan said: “It was amazing. The biggest queue I have ever seen for a book signing.

“They had to stop people joining the queue eventually but John was really good. He got through everyone in the end.”

After a few hours Barrowman left with his sister Carol.

Meanwhile Jordan, wearing black denim jeans and a black top, and sporting a new hairstyle also attracted the crowds as she signed copies of Jordan: Pushed to the Limit in Waterstone’s.

The reality television and chat show star left with her husband Peter Andre.

Borders sales manager Natalie Smith described the Barrowman signing as the biggest they had ever had.

“I think this goes to show just how popular Torchwood and Dr Who are becoming in the city,” she said.
