Kylie’s Christmas kiss for the Doctor pulls in the viewers

A PINT-SIZED Aussie songstress helped the relaunched Doctor Who record the show’s highest-ever ratings on Christmas Day.
The sight of Kylie Minogue getting lucky with David Tennant’s 900-year-old time traveller drew in 12.2 million people – half the TV audience.
That was well up on the 8.7 million viewers who switched on last year to watch BBC Wales-made Catherine Tate’s festive Doctor Who turn as The Christmas Bride.
But it was pipped to the title of Britain’s most-watched Christmas show this year by EastEnders, which was seen by 13.9 million people.
Although Doctor Who is made by BBC Wales in Cardiff, the Welsh capital is not set to be one of the British cities being granted outdoor screenings of the show today.
Fans in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and three other cities will be treated to the Doctor on loop as the BBC promotes its internet catch-up service iPlayer.
