County boss Beadle plans final flourish

NEWPORT COUNTY have three home games in the final week of the season to try and secure a Conference South play-off spot.

They entertain second-placed Eastbourne Borough tomorrow having boosted their promotion aspirations by winning 2-0 at Cambridge City in midweek.

Peter Beadle’s outfit will then host mid-table Thurrock and before meeting play-off rivals Fisher Athletic tomorrow week.

“Finishing the away programme with a win was a confidence boost and sets up our home games now,” said Beadle.

“If we had dropped points in the last away game then we would have to make them up at home.

“There is little room to do that.

“The situation in the last couple of months have always been in our own hands and now we have a massive game against Eastbourne.

“Everyone is focused on that. It’s no good looking at the other two matches.

“We need to make sure that we deal with our game.

“I know the home crowd will play their part and the players know what is needed in the next week.”
