County boss Beadle seeks home comforts

NEWPORT COUNTY boss Peter Beadle is seeking some home comforts in the Exiles’ Conference South play-off push.

County travel to Cambridge City tonight (7.45pm) seeking away-day points before finishing their league campaign with three home games.

Beadle’s side have three points to bridge on fifth-placed Fisher Athletic but they have a game in hand on the Londoners and the pair meet on the final day of the season at SpyttyPark on Saturday week.

Before then County’s visit to Cambridge precedes home games with second-placed Eastbourne (Saturday) and mid-table Thurrock (Monday).

“We need to sign off our away campaign with a win to set up our home challenge,” said Beadle.

“It’s crucial we return with three points because it would really set up the last week of the season nicely with three games at home.

“We’re playing well and with a bit of luck we might just get there.

“The home supporters have been great to this team, but let’s get Cambridge out of the way before we get too far ahead of ourselves.

“I know it’s a cliche in football but it really is one game at a time at this moment.”
