Martyrs seek atonement

MERTHYR Tydfil travel to Gloucester tonight after a weekend break and hoping to put their poor performance last time behind them (7.45pm).

The Martyrs were beaten 2-1 at home by bottom-of-the-table Cheshunt in the BGB League Premier Division and striker Craig Steins admits the team owe manager Garry Shephard one.

“We were simply not at the races for that game and it has to rank as one of the worst performance of the season,” he said.

“We had done well recently, just losing once in seven matches, but we let ourselves down and need to make up some ground.”
