Bulldogs back on top after win at Dinas

TON Pentre are top of MacWhirter Welsh Football Division One again after winning 2-0 at Dinas Powis last night.

Two second-half goals steered the Rhondda Bulldogs to victory and ahead of Goytre United, who have a game in hand.

The top two still have to meet this season with Ton Pentre going to Goytre on Wednesday, May 7.

Goytre won 2-1 at Caerleon on Tuesday to go top, but Ton regained their place at Murch Park last night.

Goalkeeper Marty Ellacott was outstanding during the first half for Ton Pentre, while Jon Kift and Alyn Jones scored their goals.

Andrew Pearson set up Kift for the first goal after 64 minutes, while substitute Jones added the second after 80 minutes.

The top four have opened a gap in Division One. Ton Pentre and Goytre are on 59 points.

Dinas Powis stand on 58 and Afan Lido, the only one of the four who could be promoted, are on 57.

This Saturday, Ton Pentre are at home to Taffs Well, Goytre United entertain Caldicot Town, Dinas Powis travel to Garw and Afan Lido make the trip to Caerleon.
