Goscombe racing towards afine league and cup double

FIRST Division champions Racing Goscombe are one match away from completing a league and cup double after beating Thornhill 4-2 in a Divisional Cup semi-final penalty shoot-out.

Matthew Smith put Racing ahead, while Jack Hobbs equalised. Racing would have won in normal time and extra time, but for some superb saves from Thornhill goalkeeper Jon Holton.

In this Sunday's final at Taffs Well, Racing Goscombe will play Stanwell Old Boys who beat San Marino Stars 3-2 after extra time. Goals from Craig Rattenbury, Jordan Price and Steven Bateman secured a place in the final. Ciaran Webb and Chris Day were on target for San Marino.

Premier Division runners-up Ely Social & Sports clinched a place in the final of the Divisional Cup after a 7-3 semi-final win over FC Porto, after extra-time.

Ely’s goals came from James Cotteral, Rob Greatrex (2), John O'Keefe, and a hat-trick from substitute Chris Marchant. FC Porto netted through Robert Watts, Daniel Hooper and Nicky Hooper.

In the back to back finals at Taffs Well this Sunday, Ely Social & Sports will take on Third Division Roath Park Galaxy in the final of the Lazarou Brothers Challenge Cup.

City Crusaders all but sealed the Third Division title with a 2-0 win over Cardiff Kings, with goals from Jim Parry and Michael Godwin.

Crusaders must wait to be officially unveiled as champions as Roath Park Galaxy can still technically win the league if they manage 39 goals against Coryton and cup finalists Channel View.

Westgate Blues have avoided the drop from the First Division after a 7-3 win over Plough Albion.

Huw Beaverstock (2), Richard Dutton (2), Gareth Dursley (2) and Simon Bullen were on song with goals for the Westgate, while Andy Davies (2) and Glen Powell replied for the Plough.
