Home boss praises ‘very good’ Wales

What the managers say

Guy Hellers - Luxembourg boss

“I AM proud of the way my players kept battling against a very good side.

Maybe some fans turned up today expecting us to repeat the 1-0 win over Belarus, but we never really looked like winning.

If we had kept it 0-0 at half-time, who knows? But we switched off at the worst time, and Freddy Eastwood had a lot of time to score the goal.

We didn’t have the ball near the Wales goal enough to worry them, and we need to shoot more.

Our crossing was very poor at times, and I think we got a bit excited when we had a chance to make it count.

But we are Luxembourg and we do not expect many wins. For us, it is about representing our country and doing our best.”
