NEIL Black’s 23rd goal of the season two minutes into the second half secured a well deserved win for a weakened Colwyn Bay at Llanelian Road.
Striker Black was Bay’s biggest threat all afternoon, his eighth-minute header clattering the crossbar.
In the 14th minute Colwyn’s top scorer was denied from point-blank range by Quorn keeper Sean Bowles, but although Anthony Wright put away the rebound, he was adjudged offside.
Bay keeper and acting skipper Jamie Speare produced good stops from Chris Goodman and Liam Hearn.
But the deadlock was finally broken when Black raced through the visiting defence and fired in a fine shot from the edge of the box.
A later effort from Black trickled inches wide.
The win keeps the Seagulls just five points off the play-off places, with games in hand on all the teams above them except one.
