We can still go up, says Joe Ledley

JOE Ledley and his Cardiff City team-mates are refusing to give up on the promotion dream.

The Bluebirds have collected only one point from their last five league matches, but Ledley said: “We all believe we can still make the play-offs this season.

“Nobody will give up on that.

“Every player realises we owe the fans a big performance – and I’m backing the lads to start our recovery at Selhurst Park this evening.

“This club has made fantastic progress since Dave Jones came in as manager.

“The new training ground has made a huge difference – and we can all see the new stadium going up over the road from Ninian Park.

“Bluebirds fans have been fantastic and we will do everything possible to repay them with a winning run and a surge up the Championship table.”

Manager Jones is ready to make several changes to his team for tonight's match with Glenn Loovens, Trevor Sinclair, Riccy Scimeca and Steve Thompson all in contention for a place in the starting line-up.

Fairwater boy Ledley, recovering from a hamstring injury, was unable to travel to Crystal Palace for tonight's Championship match.

But he believes he will be available for Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final match at Middlesbrough.

“I was close to travelling to face Crystal Palace, but I should be ready by Sunday,” added Ledley.

Today, Ledley and City striker Warren Feeney joined the South Wales Echo promotions team in Ebbw Vale on the first day of their roadshows.

The next stop for the road show is Aberdare Town Centre tomorrow when Loovens, Kevin McNaughton and Gavin Rae will meet City fans between 2pm and 3pm.

Goalkeepers Peter Enckelman and Michael Oakes will then join the roadshow at Sainsbury's, The Derwen, Bridgend on Thursday (from 2pm).
