WAYNE Hennessey says the prospect of keeping the Wales goalkeeping shirt was a factor in signing a new contract with Wolves last week.
The 21-year-old stopper, who is currently first choice for club and country, has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the Championship club.
“It’s flattering to hear the rumours linking me with Premiership clubs, but I’m enjoying my time at Wolves, playing week in, week out,” he said.
“If I’d gone to a Premiership team I could have been second or third choice and that could have affected my chances with Wales. Obviously John Toshack prefers me to be playing regularly.”
