‘Shire earn their party

SPORTING performance of the weekend was East Stirling’s 3-1 win over Montrose in Scottish League Division Three.

Victory for The Shire meant they finished 13th out of 14 clubs, a position which was vital for the club. If they had finished last for the sixth year running, they would have lost full SFL status.

Instead, they ended the season a point above Forfar and threw the mother of all parties.

Captain Andy Brand said: “I was ready for naked roly-polys, but thankfully I refrained.”

Fifty members of Shire’s Norwegian supporters’ club flew over to add noise and colour to a day which saw the club bid farewell to Firs Park as they will now groundshare with Stenhousemuir at Ochilview.
