Win Down Under gives Bluebirds cup final boost

WITH less than two weeks to go until their Wembley date, Cardiff City have beaten Portsmouth 5-0.

But it wasn’t a match played on the hallowed turf of English football – it was a warm up game between expat fans of the two teams living in Australia.

Bluebirds Down Under (BDU), who are based in Sydney, thrashed the ex-pat Pompey side, and now the long-distance fans are hoping the result will be repeated on May 17.

Team captain Barry Jones said: “It was a great game.”

He added that the side could “definitely” repeat the success in two weeks.

About 50 Bluebirds Down Under members will head back to the UK, meeting at the Victoria Park Pub in Canton, before travelling to London for the final.
