Newsletter No.68

March, 1st 2007

by Mike Caluan

Happy St David's Day and welcome to this month's edition of the expats newsletter.

Whatever you do, don’t mention the rugby. Wales fans' opinion of our boys current form is greatly divided! The fickle balance of loyalty and dismay have had our fans screaming for Jenkins’ blood on the one hand, and on the other there are cries to give the new regime a chance to evolve. Such is the quandry of a Welsh rugby fan… For all the latest news and result go to rugbynation.

Let me know where you will be watching Wales play? Drop me a line and some pics and I’ll share them with the expats community. Or why not start your own thread on our forum?

This month also see the launch of our new e-newsletters service. We'll be aiming to keep all those who subscribe up to date with all the latest news and views from your old backyard.

Well, as it is St David’s Day we thought we at icWales would put together a round up of just a few of the news stories and events that are taking place to mark this momentous occasion.

Writer Tomos Livingstone looks at how a St David’s Day holiday would promote Wales and First Minister Rhodri Morgan pays tribute to the victims of 9/11 attack with daffodils. We also look at how St David Day is celebrated in modern Wales and how our expats friends the Chicago Taffia are planning to celebrate St David’s Day!

Just in... South Wales youngsters celebrate St David and hundreds turn out for St David's Day parade, see the video.

Also this month... One of Wales greatest athletes bows out of her golden career, life for a Rhondda family who spent 10 years in Mongolia and how a London tavern tops a Welsh pub poll.

So until next month take care, enjoy the rugby and the newsletter and for all the latest in global events take a look at Carwyn's list.

Don't forget to check out the Expats Changing Wales and Expats Nostalgia sections for regular updates on what's going on.

Keep those articles and stories coming in, let me know what you're getting up to over the festive season, where you'll be spending it? You can send them to me at mike.caluan@wme.co.uk
