Newsletter No.63

October 2nd 2006

by Mike Caluan

Welcome to this months edition of the expats newsletter.

As if bringing you the best Welsh content in cyberspace wasn't enough, icWales has taken another step towards making the whole internet experience just that little more interactive with its audio and video channel. So if you have any mobile video clips, pictures of expat events or just you guys having fun… send them in.

So, without further ado here's the latest news from in and around your old backyard.

This month’s expats letter has turned into a bit of a sports special. As Cardiff City sit proudly atop the Coca Cola Championship we take a fan's eye view of their current success. Expat City fans fly from across the world to watch the Bluebirds soar and you get the chance to follow our boys in this autumn’s rugby series.

Also, how the tradition of Welsh Societies around the world is beginning to fade. Expats Keith and Janette Webber originally went to Australia for five years and 30 years later they're back on a visit to tell us what life is like down under. And on that note, if you’re planning a trip back home, then checkout what’s going on this autumn.

This year saw Wales experience one of the best summers we’ve had for years, as a result the masses left the towns and cities in their droves and hit the beaches. Now I know that’s something that you expats take for granted, but give us a chance, we’re only just getting used to our ever-changing climate!

And finally, on the nostalgia front - one of Cardiff’s oldest streets has reopened after being closed for over two years and how green was the Valleys? We look at the Wales we were.

So until next month take care, enjoy the expats newsletter and for the latest in expats global events take a look at Carwyn's list.

Don't forget to check out the Expats Changing Wales and Expats Nostalgia sections for regular updates on what's going on.

Keep those articles and stories coming in, let me know what you've been getting up to. You can send them to me at mike.caluan@wme.co.uk
