TWO Welsh technology firms have been included in a list of 50 companies to watch by trade magazine Real Business.
Swansea-based Enfis, which specialises in light emitting diode technology, and Cardiff-based nano- technology business Q-Chip are included in the list.
The two Welsh com- panies' big name backers were counted among the reasons why they were chosen. Enfis is backed by billionaire Sir Terry Matthews.
"Normally the Welsh billionaire invests in telecoms companies, but the laser technology developed at his alma mater Swansea University was too good to resist," Real Business said.
Real Business said Q Chip's backing from Jon Moulton at Alchemy Partners, "is a bit like being endorsed by the Pope".
"The king of Britain's venture capital industry likes what he sees," it said. "Using technology developed at Cardiff University, Q Chip's nanotech particles make asthma cures more effective and allow drugs to be absorbed into the body faster."
