Ship survivors mark tragedy

REUNION: With a combined age of 178, Ieuan Jones and Rando Bertoia were reunited some 68 years after they were both on board a liner which sunk after a German U-47 shot a torpedo at it. The men, the only two living survivors of the Arandora Star tragedy, met for the first time at a commemorative ceremony in Liverpool recently. Mr Jones, 89, of Hampton Street, was a guard on board the doomed ship and Mr Bertoia, also 89, of Glasgow, was an internee.
